@EvilMopacATX I've gotten bill credits for outages I didn't even know happened. (Like 70 cents, but still). The real secret to Google fiber is that the wifi router is hot garbage and shouldn't be used.

My house is noisy from Google Fiber being installed at the street, the elementary school under construction behind us and the giant trucks carrying debris rolling by. And worst is the whining and moaning of a 3rd grader sick of Zoom.

No Thriller Coin Talk Tonight dealing with Google Fiber issues our internet just went out about 2 hours ago! This Snowpocalyspe in Austin is terrible but at least this is worst at has been for us. Not at all complaining. Will be back tomorrow hopefully when everything melts.

@saradietschy AFAIK, Google fiber only has one price for their 1 Gbps service. And in Austin both the cable company and phone company match that price for their highest tier, which may or may not also be 1Gbps.

@backlon @reckless Total lack of competition. When Google Fiber rolled into Austin, TWC went from 100mbps down to 700down in 4 years. AT&T Fiber 1gig symmetric. Same price.

@EvilMopacATX I'm never sure if Google fiber is bad, or if it's just let down by the trash router they supply you. It's definitely never been as great as I expected (but likely still better than the alternatives)

@samstein By contrast, I’ve had Google Fiber for 5 years and have never had an in person service call. Any issue has just involved doing a reset

So 5G here in central Austin is slow af. I get better speeds on wifi via google fiber. Not too mention the carrier I’m with says they have 5G in the area but they clearly don’t. It’s similar speeds to LTE.

I’m done with @googlefiber literally internet up and down like a YO-YO, resetting the box constantly based on recommendation. I finally decide to call in to Google Fiber to get help and as my call is finally answered, I’m answered and immediately hung up on!!!!!! #rubbish

I’m shook I’ve been dealing with 3mbps internet uploads with .@GetSpectrum not fixing **** and I go to my bf’s house and HUGE *** VIDEOS are added to my google drive in LESS THAN A MINUTE on .@googlefiber?? Gentrification is real

@googlefiber Your customer service is terrible. My line was cut yesterday by a crew working in my neighbors yard and nobody can tell me if or when someone will be out to fix it. Meanwhile AT&T fixed my neighbor's line (which was also cut) within an hour.
