One of my key priorities at COP29 is learning and advocating for greater focus and investment in Climate Education, as currently, only 1.5% of climate-finance allocated toward climate education (World Bank, 2021), leaving critical gaps in practical knowledge and community action. Many schools, especially in Asia Pacific, provide only theoretical content, without equipping students with the real-world skills needed to tackle climate challenges.

Recommendations for the media to highlight more #ClimateInnovations by youth, particularly within the startup culture, while also addressing the urgent need for improved laboratory facilities in STEM and environmental education. Every generation has a crucial role to play in accelerating transformative climate action. At #COP29, we’re calling for governments to adopt the Universal NDC Youth Clause to champion intergenerational collaboration in their updated national climate plans. By adopting the Clause, governments will:🌍 Appreciate that young people are important drivers of climate action 🤝 Collaborate with youth on the implementation of climate plans📚 Educate young people on climate change impacts and solutionsWorking across generations, we can build the climate solutions we urgently need to protect our planet for generations to come.Learn more about the Clause here: universalyouthclause.orgCare About Climate We Are Family Foundation The B Team Climate Crisis Advisory Group Engajamundo Project Everyone Bezos Earth Fund C40 Cities Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO) Loss and Damage Youth Coalition YOUNGO The Climate Reality Project Youth4Nature UNICEF UNESCO

#Bangladesh stands at the frontline of the climate crisis, resilient yet vulnerable. At the "Post #COP29: Taking Climate Action Forward with Media and Youth Climate Activists" dialogue, hosted by Save the Children in Bangladesh, youth leaders and media representatives joined forces to amplify the call for urgent climate action.I emphasized:"Youth and children may be vulnerable to climate change, but they have the power to hold world leaders accountable and ensure that climate resilience remains a top priority."Key takeaways from the dialogue:✅ Climate finance is advancing! COP-29 saw commitments rise to $300 billion, focusing on vulnerable populations. But its too little, too late. ✅ The journey to #COP30 starts NOW—consistent planning is essential for impactful outcomes.✅ Grassroots engagement is key—solutions must reach union levels to support local communities.✅ Media and youth partnerships are vital for building climate resilience.Catch the highlights of this impactful event on ATN Bangla and learn how youth are shaping the future of climate justice.#GenerationHope

Still last week, the three days at the Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) meeting for Kenya, which culminated in the National Climate Caravan. Kenyan youth joined hands with other non-state actors to demand inclusive climate governance as a build-up to CoP29. Kenya has already initiated robust discussions to ensure that Africa is not shortchanged left the the global climate negotiations. It was an honor to partner with like-minded organizations, building solidarity and amplifying the call for justice in the climate change, resilience, and adaptation discourse. Together, we are changing the narrative. #LCOYKE2024 #ClimateAction #YouthForClimate #COP29 #JustTransition #ClimateJustice #AfricansForClimate #AdaptationAndResilience #GreenFuture

Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in COP28, a platform that brings together global leaders, activists, and changemakers to address the pressing issue of climate change. This experience was particularly meaningful for me as I was able to advocate for young Somali children who are disproportionately affected by the impacts of climate change. As climate-related challenges such as droughts, floods, and food insecurity continue to threaten the future of our children, it is crucial that their voices are heard on the global stage. I am deeply committed to amplifying these voices and ensuring that the unique challenges faced by Somali youth are addressed in international climate discussions. The journey is far from over, but I am inspired by the collective will to create a better, more sustainable future for all. Let us continue to push for action, innovate solutions, and, most importantly, ensure that no child is left behind in the fight against climate change.#ClimateAction #COP28 #Somalichildren #Sustainability #Advocacy #ClimateJustice
