Team USA women’s gymnastics is the team to beat with four of the five women returning from Tokyo in 2020. Simone Biles is massive favorite to win the all-around and spearhead a “redemption tour” after Russia claimed gold in Tokyo. The U.S. tout two-all around Olympic champions and four medalists. Arguably their strongest team ever assembled.
The men’s team, who has finished fifth for three straight Olympics Games, will have an uphill battle against powerhouse China, Japan as they try to break a 16-year medal-drought. Russia captured the gold in Tokyo.
Note: Russia is banned as country from competing in the 2024 Olympics due to its support for the war in Ukraine. 15 athletes from Russia and 18 from Belarus are set to compete as neutral. This means Russian and Belarusian flags and anthems will be absent from the Olympiad.
