It's no secret that Bridgerton is bursting with amazing dialogue, and the third season is no different, except this time, Bridgerton season 3 may be a bit more profound, and perhaps even more relatable to the modern day audience watching at home. Released on May 16, 2024, Bridgerton season 3, part 1 includes four episodes which explore the newest courting season in Regency London, and more specifically, Penelope Featherington's intentions to find a husband. After being a wallflower for the past two seasons, Pen decides to change her appearance and seek a partner with the unlikely help of Colin Bridgerton.
Over the course of Bridgerton season 3, part 1, there are moments of hilarity and moments of seriousness. As much as Colin and Penelope are the eye of this storm, Bridgerton's supporting characters have just as much to offer, even if their storylines come across as quite silly. For example, as Colin comes closer to realizing his feelings for Penelope, Lady Featherington is instructing her daughters, Phillipa and Prudence, on how to properly be intimate with their husbands. All in all, the first part of season 3 is filled with great comedy, sweet compliments, and meditations on life and love.

Bridgerton season 3's Rotten Tomatoes scores from the critics and audiences debut to new highs for Netflix's massively popular romance series.
15 "I do not fear change. I embrace it." -Lady Whistledown
Bridgerton season 3, episode 1, "Out of the Shadows"
Of all the characters in Bridgerton, none are as witty or wise as Lady Whistledown, and from the first episode, she does not disappoint. At the end of episode 1, Whistledown releases her second issue of the new courting season, and says this quote. First, this quote relates back to Penelope who, earlier in the episode, arrives at a ball in her new look, showing that she is no longer the wallflower the ton once knew. The quote also relates to the ton, who has expectations that are broken, as characters take on new roles and go against the grain.

14 "In those moments alone, as my fingers trace freckles from cheek to collarbone, or as I watch the way starlight dances across skin, I marvel at how one can feel such intimacy, but also such great distance." -Colin Bridgerton
Bridgerton season 3, episode 2, "How Bright the Moon"
One character who upped his dialogue game this season is Colin Bridgerton. After returning from his travels, Colin has a more mature outlook on the world, and it all leads back to the intimate experiences he had over the past year. In Bridgerton season 3, epiosde 2, Penelope reads about these experiences in Colin's journal. This quote is not only fuel for Penelope's crush, but also a sign that Colin has grown up in season 3. He has learned about love, but more than that, has returned with important thoughts on intimacy and relationships. This quote proves he's ready for love.
Bridgerton season 3 is based on Julia Quinn's novel, "Romancing Mister Bridgerton."

13 "A diamond is precious precisely because it is rare." -Queen Charlotte
Bridgerton season 3, episode 1, "Out of the Shadows"
If there is one character whose words have the most impact, it is Queen Charlotte. Though audiences peeked into her past during Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, season 3 sees Charlotte back to her usual sassy self, and this quote proves it. While discussing a potential diamond of the season with Lady Danbury, the queen says this to explain why she has not chosen one yet. More importantly, this quote speaks to Bridgerton as a whole. Audiences have likely come to expect a diamond, and the queen is proving that that isn't always the case. A diamond is truly special.
12 "So you’ve come to my hiding place. Welcome. Although typically only abject failures and social outcasts are allowed." -Penelope Featherington
Bridgerton season 3, episode 3, "Forces of Nature"

Throughout Bridgerton season 3, part 1, Penelope sees some very high moments, and some very low ones. Strangely, this quote is a solid mixture of the two. Pen says this quote while at a small party in episode 3 where she is outcast by her peers, except for Lord Debling. Although what Penelope is saying here is incredibly self-deprecating, it is also quite witty.
It is no wonder that Lord Debling begins to court her after this exchange, because it proves just how quick Penelope can be, and how refreshingly different she is from the rest of London's Regency society.
11 "And you are Penelope Featherington, do not forget that." -Colin Bridgerton
Bridgerton season 3, episode 2, "How Bright the Moon"

As is expected from romance, Bridgerton season 3 is full of heartwarming moments that would make anyone fall in love, especially if they were face-to-face with Colin Bridgerton. In this scene, Colin and Penelope are at a ball and Colin pushes Pen to talk to an eligible bachelor. Pen argues that his status is too high and Colin responds with this quote. Although this moment comes before Colin and Penelope are romantically involved, it is a perfect precursor to what is to come. It shows how highly Colin thinks of Pen, and how he supports her in whatever she does.
10 "Is this tent a balloon? You all are certainly filling it with air." -Lady Tilley Arnold
Bridgerton season 3, episode 3, "Forces of Nature"
In Bridgerton season 3, part 1, a few new characters are introduced, including the intelligent and attractive widow, Lady Tilley Arnold. Though this line is one of her very first, it is certainly one of her best. It occurs when Benedict enters a lecture about the hot air balloon to escape a demanding mama. He accidentally insults Tilley, not realizing she is a woman, and Tilley goes on to say this quote to the room of men, showing that she is not afraid to speak her opinion, despite societal expectations. In just one line, her witty character comes across perfectly.

Lady Tilley Arnold is played by Black Sails' Hannah New.
9 "The truth is, that which some dismiss as common rock, time reveals to be precious stone." -Lady Whistledown
Bridgerton season 3, episode 2, "How Bright the Moon"
Yet another set of wise words from Lady Whistledown occurs in the early moments of episode 2, "How Bright the Moon." In her latest issue, Lady Whistledown discusses how some women who are thought to be "on the shelf," actually do have a chance of making a good match. She references a woman named Miss Henderson, and also season 2's star, Kate Sharma, before saying this quote. While Whistledown mentions these other women, it is clear that she means herself as well. Penelope's growing confidence comes to light in this lovely quote about being beautiful, even if you are overlooked.

8 "I am not the man I was last season, and I am most certainly not ashamed of you, Pen. I seek you out at every social assembly because I know you will lift my spirits and make me see the world in ways I could not have imagined." -Colin Bridgerton
Bridgerton season 3, episode 1, "Out of the Shadows"
At the end of Bridgerton season 2, it seemed almost impossible that Colin could mend his relationship with Penelope, however in the first episode of season 3, he makes it up to her by saying quotes such as this. Not only does Colin assure Pen that he would never be ashamed of her, but he also gives her high praise, revealing that she is a bright spot in his life and a way for him to see the world differently. It is no surprise then that Penelope eventually forgives him, leading to their scandalous partnership to get Penelope a husband.
7 Inserts himself? Inserts himself where? -Philippa Featherington
Bridgerton season 3, episode 2, "How Bright the Moon"

An unexpected winner among Bridgerton season 3 is Philippa Featherington. Though Penelope's sisters typically offer comedic relief, in the second episode of the season, Phillipa has a line that is truly a laugh out loud moment. During season 3, Lady Featherintgton is determined for her daughters to get pregnant, and during a ball, she demands to know whether her daughters have been intimate with their husbands. In the midst of this conversation, Philippa says this, revealing that she actually has no clue how making love works. The moment is hilarious and illuminates just how hard Lady Featherington's situation is.
6 "Deep inside, I know I can be clever and amusing, but somehow my character gets lost between my heart and my mouth and I find myself saying the wrong thing or more likely nothing at all." -Penelope Featherington
Bridgerton season 3, episode 2, "How Bright the Moon"

If Penelope wasn't already one of Bridgerton's most relatable characters, this quote truly pushes her over the edge. In this scene, Colin sneaks Penelope into the Bridgerton parlor to give her lessons on flirting. When Penelope gets nervous, she uses this quote to explain how she is feeling. Despite the fact that Bridgerton feels so far from real life, this quote proves that many parts of the show can be relatable to audiences.
Like Penelope, plenty of viewers have also likely felt that their true personality struggles to shine through due to fear. That's what makes this quote so amazing.
5 "Perhaps a casket. The lack of interest here today shall usher me to an early grave at any moment." -Queen Charlotte
Bridgerton season 3, episode 1, "Out of the Shadows"
✕ Remove Ads
One other witty line that came from Queen Charlotte during Bridgerton season 3, part 1 was in the very first moments of the first episode. As every Bridgerton season does, the first episode showed the opening day of the courting season, when the newly eligible ladies present themselves to the queen. And even though Francesca Bridgerton was a part of this display, this is the quote the queen says when Brimsley asks if the queen needs anything. As previously mentioned, this season of Bridgerton is already proving to be different from those previous to it, and this quote proves it.
4 "Your eyes are the most remarkable shade of blue, yet somehow they shine even brighter when you are kind." -Penelope Featherington
Bridgerton season 3, episode 2, "How Bright the Moon"
One of the most outstanding lines in Bridgerton season 3, and one that viewers will likely remember for a long time, comes from Penelope during episode 2 of the new season. Colin has just brought Pen to the Bridgerton parlor, and asks her to practice flirting on him. This is the line she comes out with, and though it's clear that she means it and that Colin is touched by the compliment, the two pretend that it's part of their lessons. This line is beautifully crafted, and it also speaks to who Colin is as a love interest. His kindness always shines through, and this quote encapsulates that.

3 "But living to please others? I imagine it can be wearying at times. Painful, perhaps. So, I do not blame you for putting on armor lately. But you must be careful that the armor does not rust and set so that you might never be able to take it off." -Violet Bridgerton
Bridgerton season 3, episode 4, "Old Friends"
It should be no surprise that one of the wisest lines to come out of Bridgerton season 3 comes from the matriarch of the Bridgerton family, Violet Bridgerton. In this scene, Violet has a conversation with Colin, who is clearly at odds about his feelings for Penelope. Violet, as per usual, has picked up on her son's distress, and through so many words, tells him to be vulnerable and follow his heart. This is a great moment because it characterizes Colin as a more emotional love interest and spurs him to reveal his feelings to Penelope at the end of the episode.
2 "I have not been able to sleep, not been able to eat. I can barely speak these days. My entire thoughts consumed by...By our kiss. By you." -Colin Bridgerton

Any fan of Bridgerton should expect passion and drama when the couple of the season finally reveals their feelings for each other, and season 3 is no different. After following Penelope into her carriage, Colin reveals to her, via this quote, that he cannot stop thinking about her and the kiss they shared two episodes prior. This is a classic Bridgerton moment, wherein Colin's entire life has been consumed by Penelope. It is romantic, passionate, and exactly what Penelope, and audiences, have been waiting to hear. Not to mention, it is part of the iconic Bridgerton carriage scene that ends the first half of the season.
Bridgerton season 3, part 2 is set to release on June 13, 2024.
1 "For Godsake, Penelope Featherington are you going to marry me or not?" -Colin Bridgerton

There is no better quote than the question that dramatically ends Bridgerton season 3, part 1. After sharing a steamy moment in her carriage, Colin is dropped off at Bridgerton house, but rather than leave, he takes Pen's hands and asks her this question. This marriage proposal is spontaneous, shocking, and incredibly exciting. It is classic for Colin as well, who is known to let his emotions carry him away. And though there are tones of doubt that come with this proposal, due to Pen's Lady Whistledown secret, this is a great line to keep audiences thinking about Bridgerton season 3, part 2.
